Our approach

Microbial and animal cell cultures have been in place for decades to produce recombinant DNA proteins. Each of these systems has its limitations. ABI takes advantage of the unique characteristics of maize grain to overproduce recombinant proteins. In particular, proteins not well-suited to traditional expression system can be expressed in maize grain. ABI has both issued and pending patents that favor high expression and efficient processing.
