Research and Development

We are continually exploring the most innovative and advanced techniques available in order to provide plant biotechnology products to various markets with minimal risk.  Some of our exploratory efforts include:

  • Ethanol – Production of a low cost supply of cellulases used in the production of ethanol from cellulose along with other potential proteins that can act synergistically with cellulase

  •  Feed enzymes – Production of cellulase and other enzymes that can enhance the digestibility of non-starch feedstocks by incorporating them directly into the feed

  • Oral vaccines –Animal and human subunits vaccines that can be produced in plants and orally administered

  • Protein products – Developing a variety of protein based products such as  a high intensity sweetener (i.e. brazzein) or pharmaceuticals (e.g. aprotinin)

  • Technology – Developing promoters that confer high levels of expression and specificity as well as alternative plant selectable and scoreable markers
